Austin A40
Austin A40 restoration
The Austin A40 was a series of compact cars produced by the Austin Motor Company from 1947 to the early 1960s. Introduced as a post-war model, the A40 came in several variants, including the Devon, Dorset, Somerset, and later the Farina, designed by Pininfarina. It featured a modest four-cylinder engine and practical styling, making it popular among middle-class families in Britain and abroad. The A40 played a key role in reviving Austin’s fortunes after World War II and marked a transition toward more modern car design and engineering. Its international success also laid the groundwork for future British exports.
