Austin Somerset restoration
The Austin Somerset, officially known as the Austin A40 Somerset, was produced by the Austin Motor Company from 1952 to 1954. It was a stylish upgrade from its predecessor, the A40 Devon, featuring more rounded, streamlined bodywork in line with early 1950s design trends. Powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine, the Somerset offered reliable performance and improved comfort, making it popular among British families and international buyers. The car also came in both saloon and convertible versions. As part of the A40 lineage, the Somerset played an important role in expanding Austin’s global presence during the post-war automotive boom.
